Anthologize, where have you been all my life?

Anthologize is an amazing plugin that uses the power of WordPress to help you transform your online content into an electronic book.  It is the secret weapon that allowed me to save all of my blog posts as a Word document.

Once you install the plugin, Anthologize creates its own admin heading in the dashboard where you can configure the plugin and begin. You will choose a book title and create what they call parts, which are basically going to be your chapters. You are then able to view and search for your posts by category, tags, post types or date range.

Once you have identified a post you can drag and drop the title to the correct Part. You won’t see the content of the post at this point but know it brings it all in including the images.  You are able to rearrange your posts and parts.

When finished with post selection and placement, you then select a copyright type, write a dedication or acknowledgement and choose a print or digital export format such as: PDF, RTF, HTML, e-Pub or Anthologize TEI formats.  I tried the PDF format and it is formatted and organized like a book. Very cool.

I did not want to make an e-book, but I did want the flexibility of printing out my content into an editable text format. To do this, I selected the option to export the document with Anthologize to a RTF file and was able to open that document and then save it as a Word doc. That lets me continue to edit and format the information as needed.

I hope you are as thrilled with this WordPress plugin as I am. Let me know how you plan to use it!

Thanks so much for being so clear in this post Judi. I am just about to download Anthologize and import blog posts. You make it sound very easy. You asked to let you know what projects Anthologize is being used for. I am importing blog posts written while I lived in my car. I was one of the bloggers who got a book deal from their blog. However, the book that was published was about my life, my childhood mostly. And although of course it mentioned me writing the blog and posting in libraries while I lived in the car, it didn't use my blog posts. I am going to practice making an e-book of the blog posts and the story of that whole time and how my luck changed and I got out. It's just a practice book though, to see how the whole e-book thing works.
Thank you for your help with the first step!
